Customer Assistant
Background
We are a fast-paced heritage retail business. We have a wide customer base made up of UK and international students; visiting tourists from across the world; and local visitors from across Scotland.
We are looking for energetic, cheerful, and talkative individuals to join our amazing service and welcome team.
You’ll help us maximise all charity income opportunities through excellent customer service, product knowledge and taking a pride in everything we do.

What we’d like you to do
Your priority every day is to provide excellent customer service – using your natural ability to engage with people and help them select products and services.
Teamwork: We need you to be responsible and proactive. Always work with pace and always ask “what’s next?”.
Ensure all day-to-day tasks are completed as instructed.
You will welcome customers to our retail sites and provide information on the wider campus sights, sounds, and facilities.
Work with the retail leadership team and back-office colleagues to deliver our targets.
Work with our till and computer systems, processing sales.
Work with our team to ensure perpetually high levels of accuracy are maintained for our stock file.

Bringing the best version of you to work every day – all our customers and colleagues need to feel you care about helping them.
To actively drive-up selling opportunities through strong product knowledge and your friendly customer service.
Working with the team to ensure high standards of display and merchandising.
Cash reconciliation duties including end of day and administration tasks.
Your own development and learning, guided in partnership with the retail leadership team and your team colleagues.
Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
Always being available for flexible working during our busy graduation fortnights (June/ July & November/ December) and our 3 weeks of Freshers’ activity.
To work across our different campus locations when necessary, supporting the wider retail offer.

Essential criteria
A1 Friendly.
A2 Flexible with hours and days for shifts.
A3 Numerate.
A4 Somebody who enjoys being part of a team committed to completing tasks quickly and accurately.
A5 The kind of person who looks for solutions when challenges arrive and works with a positive can-do attitude and good humour to resolve issues.
Desirable
B1 Previous experience in heritage retail and/or fast-paced retail operation/ customer centric role.

Salary will be £10.90 per hour.
20 hours per week, 5 over 7 days, working 2 weekends in 4 across the month.
