Following a hugely successful trading period for AXA Commercial Insurance Reading over recent years, the business is delighted to be announcing further investment to support and develop our broker relationships along the South Coast.
The AXA Commercial strategy is formed around the core principles of deep local trading relationships with our brokers - AXA Reading have recently recruited a number of people based on the South Coast to help develop our regional trading presence and we are actively recruiting for more ambitious Property & Casualty and Motor Fleet underwriters to join them and be based from our new Southampton Trading Office which will be opening in the coming weeks.

The new roles are critical to our Branch network success, managing the profitability and income of your own panel of brokers, and owning the financial results for designated accounts and brokers. You will be required to manage key stakeholders throughout the business and support the technical and trading capability across the teams.
The roles encompasses many opportunities to contribute to the development and success of the new team, not just from a growth and profitability perspective but also driving service excellence to our customers. This is about working smarter and more efficiently, giving us the perfect platform to deliver our business strategy.
At AXA we’re adopting a Hybrid way of working, empowering our people to balance their time between home and our Southampton office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. An important aspect of the role will be visiting brokers to continually consolidate and strengthen branch broker relationships.
Qualifications
- Sound understanding of insurance market and processes across commercial lines insurance operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, through written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in decision making on a wide range of technical underwriting scenarios within a Commercial environment.
- Developed trading capability, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships.
- Pragmatic decision maker with good analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
- Portfolio analysis skills with proven experience of account monitoring and action planning
- Excellent risk assessment and risk management skills.
- Progress towards Cert CII qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
