We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of an Underwriter Rules developer working to develop the Underwriting engine outcomes and process.
This role can be a full time or part time role dependent upon hours. The office is based in central Bristol and offers hybrid, flexible working patterns between Monday and Friday.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and map digital underwriting rules to deliver outcomes which are line with the underwriting philosophy, risk appetite and pricing assumptions. Making practical, balanced decisions consistent with expected standards in the assessment and mitigation of risk.
- Ensure fair outcomes are delivered for customers, such that their experience is in line with the expectations we set, and HSBC brand values are maintained. Communication with customers must be transparent and clearly explain the outcome of the underwriting decision.
- Ensure underwriting decisions are made within your own individual authority limits, reassurance treaty limits and comply with internal Group limits outlined in the UK Insurance risk mandate.
- Testing rule mapping output to validate outcomes before deployment into live production environments.
- Maintain clear and auditable records of rule development, testing and deployment.
- Monitor and report customer rule outcomes and distribution activity through interrogation of rule data, post issue sampling and claims experience.
- Develop a network of effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the underwriting process, which enable engagement, productive collaboration, and execution at pace.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- A demonstrable and proven technical ability in underwriting, the development of underwriting rules and the tracking of rule outcome data.
- A demonstrable experience of developing and refining underwriting philosophy.
- Experience of reporting and oversight of Underwriting rule data to monitor key risk metrics.
- Experience of rule testing in environments which replicate live customer experience.
- Have a passion for continuously delivering a superior customer experience.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills which will enable you to engage in effective conversations with internal and external stakeholders & build strong professional rapport.
- An ability to adhere to prescribed processes, showing resilience through a complex governance and matrix managed business.
