Job description
The post has been developed to improve delivery of teaching & training to foundation doctors & medical students on placements at Croydon University Hospital. Therefore, the post holder is expected to play a major role in developing Innovative teaching programme to support the training of foundation trainees & medical students from St Georges and GKT Medical Schools. The post holder is expected to play significant role in the support of simulation for foundation doctors and medical students by working with the Simulation Manager, simulation fellows and the Director of Medical Education (DME) in the simulation centre.
The post holder will teach and co-ordinate students and foundation doctors across all the acute services to ensure that they can achieve their learning objectives. There will be close liaison with the Consultants responsible for the students and other Clinical Teaching Fellows in the Trust to ensure coordination of undergraduate and Foundation teaches meets the curriculum requirement.
There is also a commitment to the teaching and training of Foundation trainees
At least 50% of the post holder’s time will be spent on teaching activities in the acute specialties with the opportunity to focus on emergency medicine or T & O surgery.
Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.
These include:
- Croydon University Hospital
- Purley Hospital
- The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
- Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
- A minor injuries unit in New Addington
