What does the role look like?
Collins Aerospace Actuation Systems, part of RTX, is on the lookout for a UK Programme Director to join the Military Value Stream.
This is a key leadership position where you will be an important member of the Military Value Stream (MVS) leadership team in the UK, based in Wolverhampton.
You will have responsibility, accountability and authority for the profit and loss as well as the resources needed to deliver both new production and aftermarket programs to meet business requirements. The total programme portfolio sits at around circa £300m and your new role will be to manage the overall existing portfolio. Beyond that you will be accountable for effective governance and programme execution across the full life cycle in compliance with the Collins Management System.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with each key customer to ensure program risks and opportunities are being delivered.
- Monitor strategic planning efforts, present progress reports and value-stream strategy.
- Identify and implement solutions for programme problems, manage the P&L of programs and multiple vendors, and supports contract negotiation
- Champion of the Collins Management System to ensure that programmes meet governance requirements while delivering key programme metrics/objectives (cost, schedule, quality, etc)
- Responsible for oversight of programme governance ensuring flawless performance with proven results achieved through effective monitoring and control
- A key contributor to the strategy and Long Range financial Plan
- Create and maintain an environment that encourages and supports change while maintaining compliance and protecting the business
- Ensure contractual compliance with external agencies, customer requirements and supplier contracts, applying sound business principles within the Value Stream
- Support business development activity in line with delivering the Value Stream strategy
- Develop a culture of teamwork and accountability both within the Value Stream and with all the business partners (internal/external) leading and motivating the team through the development and performance management of employees
- Develop and execute solutions programme problems, such as allocation of resources, managing contractual specification changes, and coordinating responses to customer action items
What will you bring to the role?
Essential skills:
- Demonstrated track record leading multi-disciplined teams, including indirect personnel responsibility ensuring your team excel in this environment of potentially conflicting priorities.
- Excellent Stakeholder Management skills
Desirable skills:
- Previous experience in Project Controls or governance
- Ideally from an Engineering or Manufacturing environment. We will consider other highly regulated environments too
- Committed to employee development utilising IDP process, coaching and mentoring with fantastic soft skills
- Knowledge of Lean principles and applied practice, continuously drives improvement across functional disciplines. Effective utilises suite of lean tools to ensure business objectives are met and exceeded.
- A proven track record in programme planning and execution spanning the full life cycle.
- Financially astute with proven ability to lead activities associated with a large P&L
- Ability to switch from an eagle's view of the department to hands on when needed
