UK Operations Manager Coventry, England
Job description
Location
This role is based in our Coventry Depot with regular travel to other UK Depots as and when required. A company pool vehicle will be available for business travel requirements.

Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with minimum of 3 years experience of managing depot(s) with proven strong people management skills to maximise performance within our UK depots including:-
- the delivery and collection of shipments for customers.
- the receipt from and dispatch to the Hub, Port or Airport.
- the accurate recording all shipments collect and after processing to make robust enough for international shipment.
- able to demonstrate very strong Microsoft skills is compulsory.
- knowledge of customs import and export would be an advantage.
- previous experience in managing insurance claims also an advantage.
Compliance
· Confirming that all depots and vehicles are sufficiently insured
· Confirming that all depot equipment has current certification
· Confirming that all staff are working in compliance with the company policies and processes
HR / Health & safety
· Ensure all member of the team have a contract, understand the role and have, at least, annual appraisals of their role and their performance of that role
· arranging provision of appropriate company branded safety clothing to all staff and ensuring that it is worn whilst working for the company
· Review and replace first aid packs in the depots and vehicles
· Conduct regular training classes for:
- first aid
- Lifting and handling heavy items
· Management of health and safety reporting and associated investigations
· Develop and monitor risk assessments
· Review depots performance considering training or refresher courses for certain activities
- Packaging techniques
- our MoveCube loading techniques
- Advanced driving for large vehicles
- Latest in house system updates
· Allocate time and resources to allow personnel to attend these courses
· Conducting regular appraisals and reviewing of KPIs for your team
· Managing performance management process as required with HR support
Vehicle & Equipment maintenance
· Annually review and replace depot equipment and vehicles depending on condition, hours used, mileage or recommendations of the Logistics Supervisor
· Annually review and replace equipment used by Drivers during deliveries and collection including their trolley, safety boots, uniform, etc..
· In conjunction with MoveCube Fleet Manager, manage the repair and refurbishment / disposal of worn MoveCube components as well as manufacture / importation of new components to complete sets
Deliver & collection performance
- Develop and regularly review the Logistics Supervisor the criterion for daily scheduling of internal and external resources:
- maximises the loads being delivered and collected
- minimising the number of vehicles operating
- offering the highest service level
- Annually review the condition and replace the drivers’ uniform, including safety shoes, where necessary
- Review customer comments about driver and ask for the driver in question to comment
- In conjunction with the Logistics Supervisor, regularly review the performance of the drivers
Depot performance
- Considering demand for services and usage of boxes, packaging and MoveCubes, develop and regularly review benchmark stock control indices in GlobalView as triggers for
- restocking boxes, packaging and MoveCube® components to the depots, or,
- manufacture these items and distribution
- Confirm with Depot Supervisors the performance of
- regular stocktakes of all boxes, packaging and MoveCube® components
- accurately recording items arriving / leaving the depot
- packing “ugly” cargo or damages shipment and updating GlobalView quickly and accurately
- Fire system tests and drills
- Develop and review benchmark depot performance indices:
- Minimise turnaround time in the depot before the shipments are sent to the relevant depot or hub
- Maximise / optimise the size of the loads sent inter-depot the keep costs to a minimum
- Optimising the size of the depot depending on volume of throughput and area covered by the depot’s Internal and External resources
Insurance claims and complaints
· Report any lost or damaged items in shipments to the Business Centre, for complaints management and so they can manage the insurance company claim
· Review insurance claims originating in the depots including accidents, damage and loss as part of the evaluation of the depots’ and drivers’ performance
· Prepare process to minimise the situation where damage or loss occurred
· Report any lost or damaged depot equipment or vehicles to the insurance company
· Review insurance claims arising for the vehicles including accident, damage and loss as part of the evaluation of the drivers’ performance
· Prepare risk assessment in the event of accident and injury
GlobalView standing data maintenance
· Update with the Bookkeeper which bands are Internal and External considering
- the distance to travel,
- costs incurred
- any changes arising due to new roads and bridges and
- new location of depot or setting up new depots
- may include redrawing the bands altogether
- Changing the address and contact details of a depot and the resources available at the depot including names and contact numbers.

Salary: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
