UK Internship Programme - Software Engineering Edinburgh, Scotland

FanDuel
Full Time Edinburgh, Scotland 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

FanDuel Group is a world-class team of brands and products that deliver sports betting, gaming and entertainment to millions of US sports fans, every day. That's no easy task, and wouldn't be possible without a fantastic team who have helped us pioneer new products and innovative features that make us a leader in the industry.

Our paid FanDuel Summer Internship is a 12-week program starting in late June, designed for those who are interested in a career in software engineering. You'll be at the heart of the action, sitting within a delivery team with access to a number of learning opportunities.

The Position

Software Engineering at FanDuel takes a number of different forms but in this program you will mainly focus on backend engineering. At FanDuel we mostly use Java to write back-end services, but other technologies/languages can include JavaScript, Python, SQL and No-SQL databases and AWS.

During your internship at FanDuel, you'll work within an Agile team, where you'll learn about our software development life cycle and gain first-hand experience of what it takes to deliver quality, production-ready code with full support from a dedicated mentor for the length of your internship.

What We're Looking For

At FanDuel we're committed to creating a level playing field so whether you're studying for an advanced degree from a top university, attending a bootcamp or learning to do it yourself on Youtube, all you need to do is show us you can code using an object-oriented language and we're here to help with the rest.

What You Can Expect

Competitive compensation is just the beginning. As part of our team, you can expect:

  • A unique learning opportunity, working with a delivery team from day one.
  • Access to cutting edge technologies and excellent hardware.
  • Collaborating with and learning from top engineering talent.
  • Curated learning aimed at filling the gaps not revising university/bootcamp content.
  • Inclusive and collaborative colleagues who value and respect each other.
  • A new technical challenge around every corner, we're never short of interesting problems to solve.
  • An autonomous environment where you are empowered to make decisions in an environment where it's safe to get it wrong every once in a while.

Applying/The Interview Process

  • Applications will close on Friday 14th April
  • When you submit your application you will need to answer the following questions
    • Why are you interested in an internship at FanDuel?
    • What are you hoping to learn from this internship/experience?
    • What are some recent academic or personal technical projects you have been involved in?
  • The interview process will include: recruiter screening call; competency interview and technical interview
  • You will be expected to work from our Edinburgh Tech Hub for the duration of your internship

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

FanDuel is an equal opportunities employer. Diversity and inclusion in FanDuel means that we respect and value everyone as individuals. We don't tolerate bias, judgement or harassment. Our focus is on developing employees so that they reach their full potential.

Location: Our Scottish tech hub is based in central Edinburgh and is fitted with fabulous amenities including a gym, showers, bike parking, gaming pods, multiple breakout areas, meeting rooms, a roof terrace and much more.
