As our Financial Technical Accounting Manager, you'll play a niche but pivotal role within the finance & Commercial function of Bupa. Here you'll help ensure we're compliant with IFRS & reporting requirements. You'll also work on some wide ranging yet very interesting projects requiring high levels of attention where you'll engage with senior management.
What you'll do:
The role will assess and present technical accounting issues to the team. This will ensure robust analysis is provided to those charged with governance to ensure that the Management Unit is compliant with group and local statutory reporting requirements. The role will also support the BU Finance Managers with day-to-day technical accounting queries. Some of the activities and responsibilities are:
Preparing draft technical accounting analysis and papers and explaining the guidance to the Head of Financial Reporting to include:
Complex and new transactions
Reviewing Group issued Technical Accounting Policies to ensure compliance
IFRIC compliance
Briefing the Head of Financial Reporting and supporting discussions with the Group technical team ensuring they are up to date with MU developments and are supportive of the approaches being developed
Providing technical accounting support for advice on NDA projects in conjunction with the Head of Financial Reporting and M&A team
Support of our technical analysis to external auditors.
Understanding of the MU consolidated balance sheet position for presentation to the Head of Financial Reporting.
Identifying and raising issues with the Head of Financial Reporting.
Involvement in the capital management for each statutory entity, reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting in conjunction with Strategic Finance team in Group.
To continually improve the control framework within BGUK MU in relation to IFRS group and statutory reporting
External statutory entity specific queries.
Ensuring access to Group tools are appropriate across the BGUK MU.
What you'll bring:
A chartered accountant, several years post qualified, ideally with recent IFRS experience.
Confident individual with an interest in and experience of technical accounting assessments.
Analytical and lateral thinking with a ‘can-do' attitude.
Flexible and pragmatic.
Able to work under significant pressure and intensity – handling multiple conflicts of interest and priorities and capable of providing balanced views.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Competent user of financial systems and consolidation tools and standard Microsoft packages essential.
