This role is within the News UK Finance team, and is based in Peterborough with regular interaction with our Head Office in London.
Your role:
Your role will be an essential part of the Peterborough Management Accounting team, reporting directly into the Senior Finance Manager – Sales, Marketing & Editorial. This is a new role and is therefore a great opportunity for someone to implement new processes, build new reporting and really make a difference!
You will be responsible for:
Weekly and monthly reporting of TV direct and overheads costs including headcount reporting
Variance analysis against budget and forecast
Budgeting and forecasting process across all cost bases, including input into relevant presentations and supporting the Head of Finance Talk TV
Creation and preparation of weekly and monthly spend reports
Balance sheet reconciliations and analysis for all TV Cost accounts
Creation and implementing new processes to include building new TV reporting cubes.
Day to day you will:
Complete TV weekly cost reporting across content, transmission, marketing and overheads
Consistently review the weekly reporting process to identify areas for improvement and efficiency
Support the Head of Finance, Talk TV in completing the weekly broadcasting reporting pack, identifying opportunities to simplify the process
Ensuring TV costs are reconciled between trackers, SAP and TM1
Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on a timely basis and understood, review submissions and ensure that commentary is provided to the business
Review and completion of month end submissions to deadline
Regular communication with the London Finance team; ensuring a close working relationship and effective communication at all times
Regular interaction with London Finance team and business stakeholders

Identifying risks across all areas to deep dive and problem solve as required, flagging any issues on a timely basis
Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, simplification and efficiencies
Enthusiasm and curiosity to ask questions and improve processes
A good team player with the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders including Heads of Finance, Finance Directors and the marketing business stakeholders
Effectively prioritising and identifying key focus areas
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all finance and non-finance stakeholders
Proactive and willing to take initiative without guidance
