Our Nacro Education Centre in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent is looking to appoint a Construction Tutor to deliver Construction Skills to learners aged 16-19 years.
Alongside qualified teachers and tutors we would also be very keen to hear from candidates from the Construction trade who are looking for a completely new career path, which can utilise their practical skills at the same time as offering training and qualifications within the Education sector.

Great enthusiasm to lead, support, and ensure our learners achieve the appropriate construction qualifications, alongside developing their employability, personal and social skills is a must. Duties include:
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of lessons to learners at Level 1 and level 2, ensuring they gain qualification success.
- Lead, inspire and support learners with different abilities and learning styles
- Complete initial assessments of the learners’ skills within the subject
- Mark work, giving appropriate feedback and maintain records of learners’ progress and development
- Identify and plan additional support for learners as necessary
- Act as Nacro representatives at parents’ evenings, taster days and open days
- Manage learner behaviour and apply appropriate and effective measures in line with Nacro policies
- Ensure that safeguarding, prevent and equality and diversity policies are always followed, and concerns are reported accordingly.
- Ideally some experience in guiding a diverse group of learners through the requirements of an awarding body such as City & Guilds.
Essential Criteria:
- Work experience within the industry of Construction is essential.
- Qualifications - L2 English & Maths and teaching qualifications.
- The personality to engage and mentor disadvantaged teenagers
