Position Title: Academic Tutor
GENERAL SUMMARY
Full Time Academic Tutors at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment. They provide education through learner-centered individual and group instruction that will enable students to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be subject matter experts in technology and academic topics during 1:1 Zoom sessions.
- Recognize and intentionally deliver educational, technical, and emotional support for at-risk students, by recognizing their specific learning style, to enable them to become more confident, more successful, self directed learners.
- Deliver and/or assist in workshop experiences that complement the objectives of academic topics.
- Develop all resources and supplementary curriculum content for workshop presentations and individual studying.
- Attend scheduled program meetings, in-service workshops, and school-wide faculty meetings.
- Be available to communicate with students and staff during posted hours, according to policy.
- Manage the instructor/staff driven outreach request sheet and team email account.
- Conduct daily administrative tasks and other duties as required or assigned.
- One year of full-time college; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Culinary Degree or Certificate (Preferred)
- Culinary & Education Experience (Preferred)
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively by phone, in Zoom sessions, system notes, email, etc.
- Manages own time; takes personal responsibility for timeliness of work priorities and resources to achieve results and goals.
- Demonstrates ability to use technology to create efficient processes and organizational methods along with proficiency in Google Suite and Zoom.
- Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Ability to adapt quickly and think critically.
- Sitting for long periods of time; up to 8 hours of computer work daily
- Able to read computer screen(s) and maneuver between multiple applications
