Job description
We are seeking a teacher who will have teaching responsibility for the Vocational Art programme and will input where appropriate to the Art programme from Level 1 to Level 3, who will require highly individualised approaches to learning in and out of the classroom. The post is located in the Vocational team
The role is a fixed term contract for 12 months
Interviews will be held week commencing 03 March 2023
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a curriculum which is appropriate to learner needs and conforms to the requirements of examination boards (if required) and funding agencies.
- Manage the curriculum through preparation, research, liaison with colleagues and relevant agencies, external companies and management of resources.
- Deliver and develop the curriculum in an innovative, responsible and flexible manner using a highly individualised approach.
- Plan, assess and record the individual achievements of each learner against Individual Learning Plans, EHCP Plans and in accordance with RARPA moderation board and funding agency criteria.
- Deliver quality teaching and learning in line with professional standards and tailored to individual learner needs grounded in an informed understanding of their EHCP, and other assessments.
- Evaluate the quality and success of the curriculum.
- Plan for future qualifications with recognised awarding bodies with support from the Curriculum Area Manager.
- Participate in the pastoral welfare of learners, specifically as a group tutor.
- The post-holder will be expected to become familiar with the technological support available to students with visual impairment and other learning difficulties.
- Participate in staff training and development within the requirements of the College's programmes and priorities. The post-holder will be expected to become competent in producing resources to meet the needs of the learners and use other communication methods for learners with learning difficulties and to become a competent user of the technological support available to students with visual impairments/SLD.
- Work with the Transitions team, Community Services team and/ or other external agencies to support the preparation of life after college.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree qualification at grade 2.2 minimum in the relevant field
- To hold a teaching qualification
- To have three or more years of teaching
- Educated to Level 2 in Maths and English
Posts at Q2/3 will also undertake the Core Responsibilities above, but in addition will have wider responsibilities in respect of Departmental Curriculum Area Contribution (Q2) or Whole College Improvement (Q3).
