Our Employee and Industrial Relations (ER/IR) Teams have an important role in building a great place to work for our people, enabling them to be their best, which in turns supports Shell to be its best. Our DE&I roles sit within our Employee and Industrial relations teams where you will have plenty of scope, autonomy and support to make a lasting impact.
Where you fit in
You'll be joining a highly engaged team that offers a supportive environment where you will laugh, learn and be challenged every day. This role reports into the UK Head of Employee and Industrial Relations who, in turn, reports into the Vice President HR UK. Other roles in the team include a DE&I Advisor, ER/IR Leads and ER/IR Advisors. This role is the more senior of the two DE&I roles in the team and will lead our UK DE&I agenda.
What’s the role?
This role has responsibility for designing and leading the implementation of projects and interventions across the UK DE&I agenda. As a DE&I and HR consultant you’ll be working to ensure that Shell in the UK as a progressive and inclusive employer of choice. Some example activities you’re likely to do:
Design, develop and implement specific interventions, solutions or programmes in support of the UK DE&I agenda, with a focus on making Shell a Great Place to Work.
Develop and oversee the delivery of the Shell in the UK country DE&I plan, identifying priority areas and roles & responsibilities.
Establish and maintain governance, budget, and oversight for all UK DE&I work.
Lead on defined DE&I projects.
Manage and co-ordinate delivery of defined interventions – leading cross-functional and virtual team members where needed.
Collaborate strategically with Internal Communications to engage employees, enhance the company’s reputation, amplify successes and ensure inclusive internal and external messaging.
Monitor DE&I data to track progress and provide guidance to create proactive solutions.
Adhoc support for and broadening opportunities within the wider UK HR team as an HR generalist.
What we need from you?
As a DE&I and HR Consultant you will need to not only role model Shell’s Core Values and inclusion but have a high level of professionalism and personal integrity. You will need to prioritise and manage your time in order to think broadly on the DE&I and project agenda, as well as ensure a focus on operational delivery.
You will also have:
A clear understanding of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and its impact in the workplace and the ability to articulate and understand the 'why' behind our DE&I approach in a way that is engaging.
Proactivity and an ability to use your own initiative to generate ideas.
Experience of influencing a variety of stakeholders and managing multiple projects.
Collaboration/integrative leadership with other parts of the HR organisation and with our Employee Resource Groups.
Strong coaching and communication skills including the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at different levels.
An ability to identify and understand external market trends (economic, political, social) and make the linkages with our UK DE&I agenda.
A sense of humour and strong sense of teamwork and partnership with others.
