Customer Service Advisor / Helpline Advisor

Flexible Contracts

To help support our team through periods of demand we are now looking for Helpline Advisors to work on a flexible shift pattern between 4 and 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday on a zero-hour flexible contract. The working hours are generally between 8am and 6pm.

We will provide 48 hours’ notice, if not more whenever possible. You can request shifts around your availabilty giving the same notice or possibly less. We have shifts available between 1 to 5 days per week or over longer periods such as school holidays or during school term time only if you’d prefer.

Hourly rate is £11.43 p/hr

You would need to be in travelling distance of our Guildford office to attend for any training.

This role is working for the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV), based at our offices in Guildford. NCDV provides a free, fast emergency service to victims of domestic violence and abuse regardless of their financial circumstances, delivering exceptional client care.

As a member of the First Steps Team you are the first point of contact on the telephone for victims of domestic abuse helping determine the merit of a callers case in obtaining an emergency civil injunction and any application for Legal Aid. Your priority is to determine the best cause of action for your caller in a fast and efficient manner.

About You

  • Experience of working in a customer based environment
  • Patient and compassionate approach with good listening skills
  • Professional telephone manner and able to communicate effectively
  • Good written, numeric and computer literacy skills
  • Conduct calls swiftly and efficiently, you will be comfortable working towards daily targets aiming to help as many people as possible

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment dealing with matters of a sensitive nature. Experience in a similar environment would be beneficial but not necessary as full training will be given.
