Salary: £10.71 per hour
We are currently recruiting for Security Officer / Travel Safe Officer to work out of Manchester Victoria Station. The successful candidate will work on a rota basis of 4 days on and 2 days off, so you must be comfortable working at weekends. The role is minimum 40 hrs per week and shifts will normally start from 12 noon (minimum 10 hours shift).
The Security Officer / Travel Safe Officer role is to proactively patrol our client’s infrastructure to provide customer services, ensuring a safe and secure environment for our client’s customers and staff. If you are someone who likes to interact with people and thrives in a busy environment where no two days are the same, then this role is for you.
Key responsibilities for the Security Officer / Travel Safe Officer:
- Report anti-social behaviour, in accordance with the company policy.
- Take appropriate action in dealing with and helping to prevent physical and verbal assaults on staff and customers and where appropriate in conjunction.
- Assist our customer in reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and public order offences.
- As instructed monitor local station CCTV reporting any unusual or criminal events.
- Comply with the client & the Company’s Accident and Incident reporting process.
- Actively engage with staff and customers to promote the team and their purpose.
- Operate within the law at all times, and professionally deal with any individual.
- Acting in a proactive manner in the performance of your duties and obligations and to keep yourselves safe at all times, if necessary, by calling upon the assistance of any other appropriate person or the police in the pursuit of your specified duties.
- You must have a good command of the English language to enable appropriate use of radio communication channels.
- Any reasonable management instruction.
- To take appropriate action in dealing with and helping to prevent physical and verbal assaults on staff and customers.
- Ensure that stations are kept free of persons causing a nuisance.
- Ensure that only reasonable force is used proportionately and where absolutely necessary.
- Ensure where body-worn CCTV is available, it is used to record all incidents where you or a colleague is required to intervene.
- You must support any indictable offences when reported by yourself or a colleague.
You must adhere to the following:
- You MUST be able to comply with the ‘Vetting Guidance for RSAS Applicants’
- Be a resident in the UK for a period of 3 years or more
- Be eligible to work full time in the UK without restrictions.
- Declare all previous convictions and cautions, including spent convictions and driving offences.
Essential qualifications/experience:
- You will need to hold a valid SIA License
- Training will be provided
We are looking for candidates that take a pro-active approach and attitude to all tasks, responding promptly and in compliance with all required health & safety regulations. Someone who is excellent at conflict management and able to diffuse situations appropriately. The right candidate must have an excellent level of communication and a good command of the English language as well as excellent written English as you will be required to write incident reports which could be used in court.
