The Kent Graduate Programme Highways & Transportation Stream is a fast-track development opportunity, designed to recruit high calibre graduates and develop them into our dynamic, forward-thinking managers of the future. If you’re ambitious, computer-literate and can work to deadlines, this programme could kick-start your career.
In our two-year programme, you’ll complete three placements within the Highways & Transportation Division to experience all aspects of the Council’s highways and transportation work. Depending on your placements, this may include working on new policies and strategies, assessing development proposals, designing and consulting on new highway schemes and sustainable transport innovations as well as producing business cases and making bids for funding.
Throughout each placement you will focus on personal development, cultivating skills in design and assessment, project management and problem solving, as you undertake project work and build professional relationships. On successful completion of the programme, you will be well equipped to step up into a more senior role within Kent County Council.
About You
To be eligible for this position, you will have a 2:2 degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline e.g. Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or Geography and GCSE Grade A-C (4) or above in English Language and Maths. A willingness to work towards an Associate Project Manager apprenticeship is essential, as is a commitment to further professional development.
You will be capable of working independently and also have experience leading seminar groups and university projects and have a desire to bring about positive outcomes for local residents and businesses.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
