Next is one of the UK’s best known high-street retailers and one of the most established online. Behind the scenes we are at the cutting edge of Warehousing and Logistics, employing more than 9000 people across our distribution centres.

As we look into 2023, our success is dependent on the expertise and passion of our teams across the UK. Life as a Transport Team Manager at Next is full of challenges, it’s fast paced and just like fashion trends is constantly evolving. We look after over 2 million customers; it takes a large, talented and efficient distribution operation to make that happen.

Let’s take it on!

As a Transport Team Manager at Next, you will work closely with the Transport Manager in the fast-paced and time critical transport operation to ensure the traffic operation runs smoothly, accurately and cost effectively on your shift. It’s your job to ensure that the team on shift are well organised, trained and motivated to deliver the operational efficiency targets and that all operational processes are fully H&S compliant.

You will produce daily and weekly plans to achieve these targets, and monitor performance against standards, taking appropriate action to maintain or improve as required. Team Managers will ensure that all Drivers hours and tachograph infringements are controlled and managed and that all statutory road transport legislation, O-licence requirements and Company policies and procedures are adhered to. Team Managers will monitor and investigate accidents and incidents, identifying Root Cause and implementing recommendations.

You will be used to working with different characters and understand what motivates individuals to be the best that they can be. By creating a fun, fair and rewarding culture, as a Team manager in the transport team you will train, coach and mentor your team to drive them to perform to the highest standards.

About you

The Transport department at Next is a fast paced 24 hour operation and so there will often be a need for you to act independently and to think on your feet. You will demonstrate the ability to manage changing priorities, working well under pressure and able to make sound, operational decisions. Your expertise is valued and as a Transport Team Manager, you will need to search out solutions, drawing upon your previous transport management experience to lead the team.

If you’re passionate, love never knowing what the day will bring and feel exhilarated working under pressure and to tight deadlines then this could be the Next step for you.

We recognise the key to our success is our people. Through our internal training programmes, we provide continuous development opportunities to help refresh your current management abilities and to realise your career ambitions.
