Purpose of the post

We are looking for a passionate, caring and ambitious individual to join our team to oversee the next stages of development and growth of our award winning social enterprise catering operations at Social Blend!
In the past 4yrs Social Blend has grown from one location, to two unique locations with potential to develop new services and opportunities for our communities. It’s still only getting started… we need you to help us make it all it can be!
Initially you will develop Social Blend over two locations based in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire with aspirations to continue to grow its size, impact and reputation. With a plan to expand into 2 new sites over the next 6 months due to potential contract bid and 2 future sites over the next 3yrs, you will be committed to growing the enterprise alongside the charity to make as much social impact and sustainable income.
Our unique Coffee Shops and Cafe Locations support young people and adults with additional support needs, disabilities and mental health conditions to build their skills, confidence and abilities in catering, hospitality and events industry.
Alongside developing our systems and processes, you will oversee the implementation and development of our training programme where trainees undertake a range of training and development to build their employment skills and experiences. Gaining qualifications and skills that assist them into employment with us and elsewhere.
You will have responsibility to develop and grow your team and structures to meet the needs of our sites, contracts, events alongside new developments you introduce.
You will work closely with our senior management team to build your knowledge, experience and awareness in the social care field.
Person Specification:
You will be a self-starter, highly driven and ambitious in your knowledge, skills and ideas. You will have experience of leading a business, a contract site, catering premises or done it yourself previously!
You will have a formal qualification is Catering, Hospitality, Management or blend of skills, knowledge and experience in a relevant and transferrable field.
You will have at least 3yrs experience in working in a catering management role. In similar scale or style of operations like our own.
You will have driving licence and access to a car to commute between sites and transport people or items on occasion.
You will have experience in multi-site outlets and be ambitious to grow the business even more. Into new avenues and opportunities.
You should have a passion and care for making a difference in people lives, and open to learning from people as much as you can teach them.
You will be able to merge catering and social care approaches to continue to grow social blends impact and reach.
You will have experience of management - especially teams of people, building strong connections and relationships. You will line manage a small team of paid employees and will be tasked with developing a structure to support the growth and development of social blend now and as it grows.
You will have strong knowledge, experience and awareness of Healty & Saftey, COSHH, Food Safety, Hygiene regulations, processes and systems.
You will have the ability to connect and relate to people from all backgrounds showing patience and understanding. Understanding the challenges, barriers they face and the role/values of volunteering within our organisation.
You should be an excellent communicator to connect with our Board, Line Mangers, Colleagues, Team, Trainees, Families and Stakeholders.
You will be able to be able to provide written and oral reports, presentations to line managers, board members and external stakeholders.
You should have good level ITC Skills and experience of using Microsoft 365, Office and be able to use a range of the companies Epos Software, Human Resource, Health and Safety and Training platforms.
You will be able to manage a range of tasks, priorities and reporting requirements whilst providing and leading a fantastic service and project standards.

The role is subject to a PVG Check and clearance as you will be working closely with vulnerable young people and adults.

This post is subject to a year by year contract renewal, by the local authority as part of a Public Contract Scotland Tender. Successful Management, Delivery and Contract Achievements will result in further contract being awards and continuation of the role. (The initial scope of the term is a 4 year contract)
