Transportation is key to enabling us to do this from managing transport between ports and distribution centres to balancing cost and service, we're looking for a variety of enthusiastic, remarkably skilled people to make the remarkable happen every day!
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our Logistics Panning Team based at our Castle Donington Distribution Centre in Derbyshire. This role is responsible for managing the transport plan, providing support, analysing and monitoring that the plan is on schedule. This will involve working closely with various internal and external partners, including transportation companies to ensure a streamlined end-to-end delivery process.
This role works a 2-2-3 shift pattern on 12 hour shifts working a 2 week rotation:-
Week 1: 0700-1900 Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun and Week 2: 0700-1900 Wed, Thu.
The team currently work onsite Tuesday to Thursday and are home based Friday to Monday (subject to review)
What you will be involved in:
- Ensuring transport team implement the plans produced by Logistics Planning Centre
- Monitoring work and make necessary changes to ensure it is completed on time
- Tracking site and driver compliance is to plan
- Supporting the planning team with reporting and administration
- Ensuring on the day execution across the transport sites is effective and within service and cost requirements – challenge when not
- Tracking delivery performance into sites and liaise with warehousing/supplier functions access supply chain
- Interrogating systems to provide management information and carry out analysis as the need arises
We are looking for someone who has previous experience working in transport or a similar environment, who is self-motivated and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They will need to confident in their ability to make informed decisions at pace, data driven and savvy with technology. In addition, they will need the following:
- Strong IT literacy skills including Power BI and Excel to perform Data analysis and identify issues
- Familiarity with Transport Planning systems i.e. Paragon software
- The ability to build strong cross functional relationships and challenge, influence and persuade others to move towards a common vision or goal
NB: This role is to predominantly days based although we do require the flexibility to work nights on occasions - we will give advance notice if this is required.
