About us


The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for a motivated individual to join the Transport Services team as a Transport Officer. The role will primarily involve working as part of a small team who organise and manage school transport services throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities.

Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20 - 25, £28,371 - £32,020 p.a.

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Main Place of Work: The Alps Depot, Wenvoe, CF5 6AA/Home working

Description:

The Individual will ensure the smooth running of ALL passenger transport services including Mainstream and ALN school transport, community transport and local bus service provision by allocating passengers to services, organising contracts with operators, tendering and requesting quotations, dealing with queries, carrying out DBS checks, contract monitoring and general administrative tasks as required.


About you


You will need:

  • Experience of working within a passenger transport environment.
  • Good knowledge of transport legislation including Vale of Glamorgan polices and Welsh Government legislation.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities.
  • Ability to deal with the task in hand, set goals and prioritise where necessary to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Ability to delegate tasks as necessary and give clear instruction.
  • To be IT literate and able to use Microsoft Office packages to a good standard.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with passenger transport operators, parents, teachers and other stakeholders.
  • NVQ Level 3 in work related subject.
  • Previous training or work in a passenger transport environment.
  • Proven experience in managing the implementation of projects to budget and within tight timescales.
  • Proven experience of working within a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Experience of working with and manging stakeholders and developing partnerships.
  • Experience of managing contracts or service delivery.
  • Good knowledge of transport legislation including Vale of Glamorgan polices and Welsh Government legislation.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities
  • Ability to travel throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities or between locations as appropriate
