We are looking for a Translator/Proofreader to join our team in our Montreal office.
As a Translator/Proofreader, you will be responsible to report to the Linguistic Services Team Leader, to handle BFL CANADA’s translation and proofreading requests and to work closely with the Corporate Communications team to support BFL CANADA employees.

Your day as a Translator/Prooreader
- Translate and review a variety of sales and insurance documents, policies, procedures, press releases, corporate publications, marketing material, internal and external communications, and HR documentation (fr_CA to en_CA [30%] and en_CA to fr_CA [70%]);
- Maintain a bilingual terminology base, glossary and lexicon to serve as a reference for the entire organization;
- Ensure consistency and uniformity of writing style and terminology for all assigned projects;
- Act as a linguistic advisor;
- Coordinate translation requests in collaboration with external firms;
- Participate in the drafting of various documents for the company;
- Maintain a complete and detailed log of translation requests for the entire organization,
- Perform other related duties or projects, as needed.
Our ideal candidate
- 4+ years of experience as a translator, knowledge of the insurance industry is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in translation or equivalent.
- Ability to translate specialized and technical content related to the business and client groups involved.
- Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Acrobat software.
- Proficient in SDL Trados and CAT tools.
- Proficient in InDesign software, an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management and respect for deadlines.
- Autonomous, responsible, versatile, dynamic and able to adapt to changes, as needed, within an active organization in constant evolution.
- Active member of the OTTIAQ, an asset.
