Job description

We are seeking experienced police officers to transfer to Warwickshire Police!

Warwickshire Police can offer you a unique, challenging and rewarding career opportunity where you really can make a difference. We offer great staff benefits and career prospects.

Health & Wellbeing, and inclusivity are our true focus within Warwickshire Police. We hold family days regularly which focus on showing your family and friends what you do and also provide you with more information on what the force can offer to support you. Our Health & Wellbeing team tour the force, offering support with both professional development, and health & fitness.

You will find your new colleagues welcoming and engaging in Warwickshire - the grass can be greener!

If you are an experienced uniformed constable you can apply to join our response teams within Warwickshire or join us as a driver trainer based at Stratford upon Avon.

Warwickshire Police is also recruiting Authorised Firearms Officers to the Operational Firearms Unit based at Leek Wootton:

This is an exciting role for AFO’s providing an armed policing function to the County, Warwickshire is a large county with a split of rural and urban communities. We police a large section of the strategic road network which connects the North to the South of the country and border the West Midlands Policing area amongst others. As an AFO in Warwickshire you will work in the Operational Patrol Unit, this is centrally based and services the county.

We are a small unit with a big reach, there is a family force feel with a energetic culture where investment in officers training, development and welfare are our priority. Every day in Warwickshire is different as an AFO on the Operational Patrol Unit, a day in the life might be an SFI in the North of the County, proactive patrol in one of our hot spots or providing high visibility patrols in Stratford Upon Avon or Warwick. You might be supporting colleagues with your medical skills or providing method of entry capability or you could be working with the TFC and Tac Advisor on a planned job.

The role is currently dual function whereby AFO’s undertake roads policing when they are not deployed to firearms incidents, as part of our Empower programme this is under review. Our vision moving forwards is for our AFO’s to provide a high level of armed policing response and make Warwickshire roads a hostile place for Organised Crime Groups, County Lines and Cross Border criminals who use our road network to commit crime

We offer our team the best tools to do their job, we invest in our fleet of ARV’s and have recently equipped our officers with new kit and equipment to make the best use of advances in technology.

There are opportunities to develop your skills and training when on the department, this includes the OFC role if you want to expand your skillset as a Commander, instructing if you have aspirations to become a National Firearms Instructor and close protection if you see yourself providing protection to members of HM Government and the Royal Family who visit Warwickshire. We have a flexible model where operational AFO’s with extended skillset’s are given the opportunity to work within our Training School and where NFI’s provide support to the ARV.

We work a 5 shift system on a 4 on 4 off pattern of 12 hour shifts, the 5th shift provides the opportunity for Teams to train together and when there is no training it is an opportunity for proactive policing. The training calendar is tailored to provide interesting and stimulating training locations and we utilise excellent range facilities with one of partners.

We are looking for motivated Officers who are experienced AFO’s who want a new challenge, change of policing area or those looking to extend their skillset or promote in the future. We also invite newly qualified AFO’s who want to develop as an AFO in a supportive environment and above all we want Officers who want to be part of our team to build an inclusive unit where officers work hard together, with enthusiasm and respect and protect people from harm with drive, professionalism and pride.

  • There are opportunities for role progression as a PC OFC, close protection officer and as a part-time firearms instructor dependant on availability and subject to selection process.
