We are excited to be recruiting for Trainee Youth Support Workers who are pivotal in creating and supporting tailored activities for young people. Your personality and creativity will be key in shaping and helping children pursue personal aspirations. The role involves supporting experienced Youth Support Workers with encouraging young people to engage in a variety of after-school clubs, monthly youth club, special themed events in the home, and off-site trips. You will support your colleagues in planning, organising, and participating in half term programs that consist of a variety of activities suitable for the young people. You will also support and encourage young people to participate in community clubs that promote their social development. You and your colleagues will facilitate group and individual experiences that focus on leisure, wellbeing, personal development, cultural education, and social responsibility.
This is an opportunity for entry level applicants who want to develop through a training and practice-based role. As a Trainee Youth Support Worker, you will be developing your skills and abilities in the field by applying knowledge to hands on practice which will be supervised by an experienced Youth Support Worker.
Through our training modules applicants will be equipped to:
- Use their skills, knowledge, and abilities to build positive and effective relationships with young people
- Work in partnerships with colleagues and the team around the child
- Develop innovative and creative learning opportunities
- Open doors to opportunities for young people and engage them in a variety of different activities
- Link theory to practice
- Enhance understanding of working with young people affected by trauma and adverse childhood experience
- Receive excellent opportunities to get involved in training delivered by international experts to improve skill base and awareness of working with young people
- You will be allocated time with other trainee staff to work on the training programme together on a weekly basis
Successful candidates for this position are self-motivated individuals who are adaptable, active, creative, have a ‘can do’ attitude and keen to build positive influential relationships with the young people. You will have a willingness to learn and implement knowledge into your practice. You can expect to see a positive impact of your contribution in the children’s lives.
Cotswold Chine School, part of Novalis Trust, is a progressive charity working with children with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties many of whom have had Adverse Childhood Experiences. Cotswold Chine School is set in the beautiful tranquil Cotswold countryside and comprises of a school and 9 residences for up to 60 children and young people. As a medium sized charity with over 300 employees across 4 sites, there are opportunities for career progression within the Trust.
