We have an exciting opportunity within our National Service & Maintenance Department for an ‘Trainee Service Engineer’ within the London area. There is no permanent place of work associated with this role as you will be required to travel to different customer sites from your home address.
- You will learn and subsequently develop the required skills to service & maintain all variants of fire Sprinkler Equipment, in accordance with the relevant British standards.
- Trained on the safe use all necessary plant and equipment associated with the job, as a ‘Trainee Service Engineer’.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication at site level with all personnel, ensuring that at all times you represent the company to a high standard. I would like to take this opportunity to stress that reliability is paramount and this position may involve working away from home.
- You will embark on an in house training scheme programme that will be held in various locations across the business, but mainly our Hamilton Office and out on site. The training, experience and development will continue throughout your employment and we will meet with you on a regular basis to conduct reviews and assessments of your performance and progress, as the end goal is for you to become a well-rounded engineer within the fire sprinkler industry.
- The medium to long term opportunity will be to develop your hard work and determination, together with evidence of key indicators and a mapped competency matrix to progress you to an experienced Service Engineer, capable of undertaking the following.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be motivated, switched on, with a ‘can do’ approach. The role will be to carry out engineering/maintenance tasks as allocated by the Regional Service Supervisor on all makes of Sprinkler Systems. You will need to understand fire panels and isolations, be able to carry out checks and flow tests on fire pumps and you will need to go onto a rota, for Out of Hours Emergencies, once assessed as competent, to which you will be paid extra for.
- Experience of working within a customer facing role and the ability to build strong customer relationships. Excellent communication/customer facing skills are required and you should be Able to work on own initiative, but also contribute to an effective team.
