Job description

A day in the life of a Trainee Production Assistant at Postworks:

This is an entry level role where no experience is needed.

You’ll be working as part of a team to make sure that all of our customers letters are printed and handed over to Royal Mail and that all letters received are scanned.

  • When you start your day, you’ll join your team for a hustle (team meeting) and find out what your responsibilities are for that day. You’ll be given a round up of the day so that you know what to expect.
  • You’ll then work on the printing side of the production facility making sure that all of the printers are running smoothly and all paper drawers are full of paper. You may spot check the print quality to make sure that nothing looks off.
  • You’ll then move over to cut down the paper that you’ve printed, you’ll use a guillotine to cut down 500 pages in a matter of seconds and get them ready for the next stage.
  • Now it’s time for the next hustle, where the team will check progress against production targets and you’ll find out how you’re doing against your responsibilities.
  • It’s now time to put the letters into envelopes, you’ll be operating the folder (envelope) inserter machines that put around 300 letters into envelopes every minute. You’ll keep an eye on the machine and make sure it’s stocked up with paper and envelopes.
  • There might be an error on one of the machines that stops it working, so you let the Senior Production Assistant know who puts a service call in to get it fixed.
  • It’s time for the final hustle of the day, where you will check progress against targets and make sure your responsibilities have been met.
  • You’ll finish the day with a little bit of vacuuming and wiping the machines down, to make sure that your workstation is ready for the next shift.
