Cargiant is looking to appoint a Trainee Parts Operative to assist in a busy Parts Department to train as a Parts Advisor
Trainee Parts Operative
The purpose of this Junior role is to aid the general operation of the Parts Department by taking in deliveries, putting away stock, disposing of waste and distributing parts to the relevant sections of Cargiant’s Workshops. The Trainee Parts Operative will also be undergoing training on procurement of motor parts with the view to acquiring the skills of a Parts Advisor professional upon completion of the 1-year fixed term contract.
This role would be ideal for candidates looking to launch their automotive career but offers direct employment on a fixed-term contract basis.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Serving on front counter, receiving deliveries, checking parts and distributing to the relevant Departments in a controlled manner.
- Undergoing training on invoicing and identifying parts via electronic dealer catalogues.
- Disposing of waste in line with environmental and Health Safety requirements.
- Maintaining high levels of housekeeping within the Department.
- Ability to use own initiative and carry out adhoc duties required.
Health Safety Responsibilities

• This includes reporting all accidents and near misses to management. • Reporting any potential issues which could cause harm.
- Behaving as per standards set out in the Health and Safety Manual and Company Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential:
- Good command of English matched by competent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Energy and enthusiasm to learn about the procurement of Motor Parts.
- Willingness to carry out manual handling and on-site mobility tasks as this job involves a fair amount of walking. Desirable:
- School/College leavers who have studied in Automotive and Retail subjects.
- Ability to operate computer including basic spreadsheet and word processing.
