As a Trainee Lifeguard, you will be given on-site training to earn your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. This training is expected to take place in early May 2023. You will learn the necessary skills to provide a safe and comfortable swimming environment in our Aztec swimming pools.

As this training is funded by TLH, your contract will come with a repayment clause:

Employment terminated within 3 months (before July) - 100% of the course cost to be reimbursed to TLH

Employment terminated within 4 months (before August) - 50% of the course cost to be reimbursed to TLH

Employment terminated within 5 months (before September) - 25% of the course cost to be reimbursed to TLH

Completed fixed term contract/Employed for longer than 5 months - No reimbursement to TLH

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attend all training to earn NPLQ and utilise these skills in every shift.
  • To supervise the security and safety of the public ensuring their enjoyment in all areas of the facility and carry out rescues as required.
  • To maintain a vigilant watch of the swimming pool areas in accordance with the operating procedures and take necessary action to ensure the safety of all pool users and staff.
  • To assist the Pool/Duty Manager in the preparation and activities of the Aztec pools in a professional manner to ensure a high quality of service is provided to pool users and visitors.
  • To maintain the facility to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
  • Carry out regular checks of the changing facilities, paying particular attention to customer safety, facility operation, security, cleanliness and hygiene.
  • To comply with the pool’s Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • To report any matter of concern to the Duty Manager immediately.

Hours and rate of pay

This would be a fixed term position (from May until September), with hours inclusive of evenings and weekends. The role involves early starts from 7am and late finishes up to 9pm.

Hourly Rate: £10.42 per hour - Aged 19+ (£9.50 per hour for ages 16-18)
