Job description
Fibrec Communications Limited is currently recruiting for a self employed trainee Fibre Engineer to support a lead engineer based in South London. This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to develop their career as a key worker in the thriving telecommunications industry.
The role will educate the candidate in the installation of fibre optic cables for some of the leading networks in the UK.
Please note that experience in this industry is not required as training will be provided for the right candidate. We're looking for an individual who has a genuine willingness to learn.
Duties Include:
- Splicing and testing of fibre optic cables
- External underground & overhead cable installation
- Equipment installation in exchanges, data centres, and street based cabinets.
Candidates must be aware that this role requires working outside & undertaking strenuous physical activity.
Required:
- Must hold a full UK driving license
Desired Openreach Accreditations: Not essential but must be willing to undertake (support may be provided for the right candidate)
- SA002 - Safety Underground
Desired Qualifications - Not essential but must be willing to undertake (support may be provided for the right candidate)
- Emergency first aid at work
- Street-works card
Work Pattern
- Monday to Friday (some weekends as overtime)
- The successful candidate may be required to undertake night work (Sunday night to Thursday night) depending on which project is being worked on.
Location
- Regional engineer covering the South East (mainly London) but nationwide work may be required.
Contract type
- Self employed sub contractor.

- Van, tools, & training will be provided.
