We are looking to recruit to 12 training posts; 6 based across the Getting Help East Service, 3 based within the Neurodiversity Team (Autism Assessment Team & ADHD Team) & 3 training posts within the Anxiety & Depression in Young People (AnDY) Research Clinic in Reading.

The Getting Help East service has three teams working alongside the local authorities of Bracknell Forest, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, & Slough. Each team delivers brief, high quality, evidence-based, psychological interventions for CYP with anxiety, depression, & behavioural difficulties. This community-based service is placed within the Getting Advice & Getting Help groups of the THRIVE framework (http://implementingthrive.org/) & therefore works closely with partner agencies in the community including both statutory & charity organisations to support children, young people, & their families. Candidates will need to be ready to start academic training in January 2024. Interviews will be held jointly with the University of Reading & successful candidates will be required to complete the application form for a place on the Graduate/Postgraduate Certificate in Brief Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions for CYP with Common Mental Health Problems course.

The role of the trainee children’s wellbeing practitioners is to provide brief evidence-based and CBT informed interventions for children and young people who are presenting with mild-moderate anxiety, low mood, and behavioural difficulties in the community or those waiting for an autism and/or ADHD assessment or who have already received a diagnosis of either/both.

The “must haves” for you to be considered for this role:
1. A good degree in Psychology or other relevant subject*
2. Experience of working with children and an understanding of how to talk with them
3. Some experience of working within a mental health setting or school pastoral care
4. Strong communication, IT & organisational skills

  • Graduate route (level 6)
Applicants that may not hold an Honours degree must have proven successful study at level 5; or successful part completion of an Honours degree – Level 6

Postgraduate route (level 7)

Honours Degree graded at 2.2 or above

We have several exciting training opportunities for people who wish to make a make a major contribution to child and adolescent mental health services in Berkshire. The vacancies have arisen through funding from Health Education England to introduce and train Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) to work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) in England. CWPs provide brief low intensity psychological interventions for young people with anxiety, depression and behavioural difficulties as part of a stepped care service. This is the 9th cohort of a programme to roll out this new workforce for CAMHS.

Interviews to be held on Week commencing 21st -25th of August 2023. These will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams.
