Job description
This is a training role within the Adult Mental Health Services, Specialist Psychologist Interventions. This role is a 2-year fixed term appointment leading to a permanent Psychological Therapist post at the end of this period if the postgraduate diploma programme is completed successfully. The post-holder will work within the service providing formal psychological interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training will equip the postholder to provide psychological therapy within their specialist therapeutic modality to clients with a range of complex problems. Trainees will work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under supervision and direction from an experienced psychological therapist. The post- holder will work in the service using their newly developed skills and also attend university regularly as part of the training programme. The trainee psychological therapy post is at Band 6 for the 2 years of the course. This period may reasonably be extended to make reasonable adjustments for mitigating circumstances and this agreement will be reached in collaboration with the training institution. In the unfortunate event that the post holder is not able to complete the training course, they will be withdrawn from the training institution and contract of employment terminated. Upon successful completion of the psychological therapy training, the post holder will be offered a Band 7 psychological therapy post.
