Job description
Among Checkit's core products are smart sensors that monitor things like temperature, water flow or air quality, and send alerts to our central hub if readings fall outside expected boundaries. This helps our customers to ensure that critical systems are working as expected, and to know quickly if something is wrong so they can fix it before it becomes a problem. We help the NHS keep things like blood products and vaccines at the correct temperature by monitoring their storage fridges, and we help food retailers to reduce waste by monitoring refrigerated display cabinets in their stores. These sensors are calibrated and maintained by our team of Field Service Engineers, who visit customer sites to install the equipment and make sure they are in full working order.
What you'll be doing
- Learning how to calibrate our sensor products using our technical calibration equipment, including Pico machines which check that temperature measurement probes are measuring correctly, and hygropalm machines which check that ambient environmental conditions are suitable for calibration to take place.
- Spending an initial training period out on the road with members of our Field Sales Engineering team learning all about our sensors, our equipment, calibration processes and customer service standards.
- Once trained, visiting customer sites and calibrating sensors to meet our customer SLAs.
- Issuing calibration certificates for completed calibrations, and arranging for our UKAS qualified Engineers to check the quality and consistency of the calibrations completed.
- Progressing over the course of approximately a year from the Trainee Calibration Technician position to a fully-fledged Field Service Engineer, where you’ll be involved in all aspects of sensor installation and maintenance alongside the calibration aspects of the position.
What we're looking for
- No specific academic qualifications are required, however any qualification or apprenticeship in a technical or engineering subject would be a distinct advantage. We are looking for someone with a technical brain who can quickly get up to speed with the requirements of the role.
- No specific experience is required as full training will be provided, however any experience in a technical of engineering role of some sort would be advantageous.
- As the role involves driving to customer sites, it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence with no points or endorsements.
- The ability to quickly understand and internalise technical information and concepts is important, as the ability to learn and understand technical processes.
- Good face-to-face communication skills are important, as you will be dealing with customers on their premises on a daily basis. We need someone warm, friendly and engaging with a strong desire to deliver brilliant customer service every single day.
- Good general IT skills, familiar with MS Office suite and Outlook, with the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
