About us

ABP Yetminster is one of the biggest lamb processors in the UK specialising in the premium cuts and best quality lamb products. Our teams of experienced and reliable meat experts are passionate about building lasting partnerships in the European retail, manufacturing and food service sectors. Producing a full range of high-quality lamb and mutton from whole carcass to graded cuts for retail and food service customers. This includes ‘Dorset Crown’ which is a range of premium products local to the area which are processed and packed at the Yetminster site.

We are based in Dorset, close to the town Yeovil and our commitment is to produce the best quality products and our determination is to surpass expectation that’s earned us our market-leading position.

We are looking for people keen to begin or continue their career in food sector and currently we are recruiting for Trainee Butcher to join our Boning Hall team.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of meat cutting and processing techniques, and be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to follow food safety regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Learn to cut, trim and prepare lamb to standards defined for the relevant stage in production

Learn to recognise and be able to produce a cross range of quality standard lamb primal cuts

Trained to understand strict adherence to quality, animal welfare and ethical procedures

Learn to follow traceability process and ensure labelling integrity

Comply with company policy and procedure on safe food handling and hygiene at all times

Undertake any other reasonable requests made

Report any accidents/absences are reported in line with site reporting procedures

Meet deadlines

Continually seek training to increase skills level and remain up to date with best practice

Carry out all tasks in a safe manner in accordance with attached H&S responsibilities

Personal specification.

Basic knife skills

Must be physically fit

Willingness to learn and develop skills

Able to follow detailed operating procedures with a high degree of attention to detail

Able to work under own initiative

Be a team player

Have basic understanding ofFood Safety you will attend training as part of your role to achieve Level 2 Food Safety

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £11.50 per hour

  • Yetminster, DT9 6HQ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Butchering: 1 year (preferred)
