Job description
The Role
Sheffield Forgemasters are seeking to recruit an applicant to be trained as a refractory bricklayer. The trainee will report directly to the Refractory Manager and will line 100T ladles with bricks.
The main duties of the role are as follows:
- Work to bricking diagrams with excellent attention to detail
- Plan, organise and implement effective brick lining for 100T ladles
- Casting of various lids/heat shields using refractory concrete, spraying of casting pits and tanks
- The refurbishment of large ingot heads to production requirements
- Annual relining and periodic repairs of the 100T Electric Arc Furnace
- Ensure that deadlines for planned work are completed within set timescales
- Maintain a good standard of housekeeping
- Have a high regard for Health & Safety and work safely at all times
- Any other duties commensurate with this role
Candidates must have:
Specific qualifications required for the role:
Ideally but not exclusively 3 GCSEs grade 4-9 including Maths, English and a Science

You will be expected to work Monday to Friday 6am till 2pm.
