You will be part of the NW&C Region which consist of three routes:
- North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
- Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
- West Coast South Route, covering the south of Crewe to London Euston.
There is also a Regional Team which supports Regional Major Programmes & Professional services.

Brief Description
Are you a logical thinker who enjoys methodical problem solving?
Can you stay calm and focussed in a fast paced, constantly changing environment?
Are you capable of learning a lot of new information over a short amount of time?
Are you able to type at a reasonable speed with good attention to detail?
What will you be doing?
Establish the cause by liaison with signalling and other rail industry employees as necessary of delays to all trains operating within the designated geographical area.
Create incidents and attribute delays in the TRUST delay causation system so they are correctly coded to root cause. Monitor that each delay is validated through the agreed procedures to the national standard.
Please note there are 5 positions available:
1 regular TDA position based at Rugby ROC, 1 x relief TDA position based at Rugby ROC and 3x relief TDA positions based as West Midlands Signalling Centre.
About the role (External)
Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
Take responsibility for the creation of incidents and attribution of delay to the national standard within the agreed area of geographical responsibility so all available systems are utilised to assist in identifying the correct allocation of delay code and responsible manager.
- Monitor TRUST data collection/ input carrying out data integrity checks as detailed in the national standard so that missed train reports are inputted prior to the attribution of D flagged TRUST delay alerts.
- While this post maybe located within a control or signalling centre where there are safety critical activities, this post is not defined as safety critical and therefore the post holder must pass on any messages of a safety critical nature to a suitably competent person.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
A good general standard of education, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Geographical knowledge of the route
- Knowledge of Windows based applications and Computer Systems
- Knowledge of railway and infrastructure operation
- Strong commercial awareness
- Flexible and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Good knowledge of train services operating within route
We would also like but it isnt crucial to have/to be:
The ability to analyse and interpret information, drawing out key facts
- Railway industry or higher education qualifications
- Awareness of Template Schedule 8 and RT1 customer/supplier contracts
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to type accurately at a reasonable speed
- Ability to learn a large quantity of new information
- Good short-term memory
Please note that this role is shift based (round the clock) and candidates will be expected to travel to and from work at unsociable hours without relying on public transport. It is also worth noting that initial training for this role may involve residential training away from the office location for up to 8 weeks.
To be considered for this role you must live within 60 minutes travel time of the location.

Salary: This vacancy is Sup 5 £41,883. Please note that 4/5 positions are relief positions and these occur an additional 4% flexibility premium.
Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
