You would support our multi award-winning Parking Services Team to deliver a wide range of exciting projects from new Parking Schemes, to Cycle Parking programmes and new mapping systems as well as a programme of maintenance works. We are looking for a new traffic technician who is keen to learn how to use technical drawing software, analyse data whilst ensuring a first-class customer focused service is delivered.

About the role

Your role will involve a variety of tasks making no two days the same! You could be in the office or out making site visits. You will communicate with a wide range of the community to consult on changes to the road network including parking restrictions and new parking schemes and to develop your understanding of the pressures from different users on the road network whilst considering the council’s carbon neutrality strategy.

As a core member of the Parking Design and Implementation Team, you will learn how our parking and services support and serve a wide range of residents and businesses in the city. For example, processing disabled bay application and liaising with the disabled car users’ group. Providing day-to-day team support, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of project administration, customer service and engineering delivery that will improve our city both now and in the future.

The Traffic Technician role is a career graded role meaning as your skills develop you can be moved up a pay grade. You will work across all teams within Parking Design and Implementation which will give you an excellent understanding of the whole team’s work and place you in a great position for future progression.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
