This is an exciting and rare in-house job opportunity for a Trade Mark Paralegal to join our Legal Intellectual Property team on a permanent basis, based at Boots Headquarters in our Nottingham Support Office, UK. We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual that is keen to learn, develop and support the management of our international trademark portfolio and assist in the implementation of our trade mark strategy across the Boots UK, No7BC and the International business.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Brands are at the heart of everything we do here at Boots and No7 Beauty Company and trade marks are crucial in protecting our innovation and investment that goes into developing our brands. The Trade Mark Paralegal will provide critical support to the Director of Intellectual Property and the rest of the Trade Marks team. This will be a varied and extensive role which will cover all aspects of trade mark matters including:

  • Filing trade mark applications worldwide;
  • Managing trade mark formalities linked to examination, opposition, cancellation, invalidity & declarations of use;
  • Docketing, renewals and deadline management;
  • Liaising with external counsel;
  • Provision of cost estimates for in-house clients;
  • Managing and reviewing trade mark watching services;
  • Assisting with trade mark clearance searches;
  • Handling internal client queries;
  • Supporting the Director of Intellectual Property for portfolio reviews and due diligences;
  • Managing our Intellectual Property rights database;
  • Management of assignments and recordals;
  • Handling signature, notarisation and legislation of documents; and
  • Assisting the Director of Intellectual Property and the Trade Marks team in brand Intellectual Property enforcement activities

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE
  • Experience in supporting the management of an international trade mark portfolio is desirable;
  • Very keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude and the ability to take initiative
  • Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team
  • Able to manage competing demands, multiple deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Good stakeholder management
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills and ability to create efficiencies in processes and workflows
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU ALSO HAVE
  • Previous experience in trade mark formalities and administration activities is preferred
  • CITMA qualification is desirable (but the opportunity to complete the CITMA Administrative/Paralegal courses will be given to the right candidate)
