Job description
The position that we are looking to fill is a Warehouse operative, the role is for a Timber Selector within our warehouse team.
The job of the Timber Selector is to be able to look at a piece timber and understand its characteristics and identify the positives and negatives for its intended application. They will need to be able to pick from our stocks the absolute best timber for every order to meet the customer requirements. This can be selecting boards to be machined in our mill or selecting rough sawn boards and assisting customers with selecting the best timber for their projects.

Responsibilities and duties:
- Selecting timber ready for production of unique, bespoke, made to measure timber items for sale all across the UK (and internationally!).
- View and understand orders using our internal order management system.
- Assist in other areas when required to ensure maximum output, including manual lifting and load and unload customer and supplier vehicles using a Forklift Truck and or Combi to minimize manual handling (training can be provided)
- Quality check of products to ensure our high standards are maintained.
- Follow company Health and safety procedures and Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work
- Be prepared to multi-task on a daily basis.
Personal attributes:
- Experience in a similar role would be beneficial but not essential as full on the job training will be provided
- Have excellent communication skills
- Good timekeeping, Reliable, organised, honest, and hard-working.
- Logical and methodical with good attention to detail.
- Enjoy a physical work environment
- Ability to problem-solve, and a determination to maintain highest standards.

Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 with two half hour breaks. In addition, you will receive 28 days paid holiday a year plus bank holidays. We also use some holiday to shut down over Christmas!
