To carry out delegated specific and unsupervised duties in support of the Operating Department, including general housekeeping duties as required. To assist with the preparation of the area for the operating schedule, including equipment checks where appropriate. To support and assist the Registered Health Care Professional during surgical, anaesthetic and recovery procedures. To assist in the preparation and disposal of instruments and equipment and general housekeeping of the stores and theatre environment. To assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors, reporting any untoward incidents, accidents or potential hazards to the nurse in charge. To provide assistance in the transportation of patients, equipment, goods and instruments to and from the operating theatres/wards/other departments. To ensure that specimens are transported in a timely, efficient and safe manner to the laboratory. To contribute to effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team.
