We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced theatre HCA to join our friendly team based in the Pines Hospital, which is located in South Manchester. Consideration will also be given to suitable applicants who may be trained in theatre HCA procedures.
The role of Theatre Healthcare Assistant is essential to the smooth day to day function of the operating theatres. You will assist the surgical team in fulfilling their duties and help to ensure the smooth and safe movement of patients through their surgical pathway.
Main Duties:
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients at all times.
To deliver basic care based on policies, procedures and current research.
To participate in induction programmes, in house training and staff appraisal.
To be familiar with Hospital policies and procedures.
To respect confidentiality at all times.
To be involved in the development of standards of care to ensure the highest quality of nursing care.
To function in a theatre environment ensuring comprehensive care of the patient under the supervision of the Nurse.
To ensure that complaints, suggestions and queries are promptly reported to the Clinical Services Manager.
To ensure adherence to Hospital Policy in relation to safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medical products and the provision of the misuse of Drugs Act, 1971.
To maintain a personal knowledge of all current Hospital Policies and Procedures and to practice in compliance with the same.
To help maintain a climate in which research can be undertaken to participate in such research and assist in the practical application of the same.
To participate in the monitoring of the effectiveness of the nursing contribution to the overall programme of patient care.
To maintain patient and staff records, and any other information as may be required by the Hospital.
To ensure theatre area is clean and all areas are safe.
To assist the Nurses within theatre to ensure the smooth running of the theatre list.
To ensure that there are adequate stock levels within the theatre area and liaises with the theatre sister with regards to stock levels.
To report all accidents/incidents to the Nurse Manager promptly and participate in the investigation of the same.
To ensure all clinical waste is removed promptly and safety in accordance with Hospital regulations.
This post is full time, (37.5hrs) to be worked over a 7 day rota and the applicant should be flexible in their working arrangements as we operate on a changing rota basis, including evenings and weekends to meet with patient needs.
For Senior HCA's a higher rate of pay can be offered.
