Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeships – Level 2

Day Shift - Initial Working Hours: Monday –Friday: 08:00 – 16:00
The Textile Manufacturing Operative (TMO) Apprenticeship has been designed to provide the next generation of textile employees with the skills they need for a career in textile production and manufacturing. The programme covers the main requirements of working in textile production and includes elements of off-the-job learning, blended with on-the-job practical learning.
Who is it aimed at?
· It is ideal for learners new to textiles as well as employees who have had little or no formal textile training.
· The programme will teach the basic principles of textiles from understanding raw fibres through to finished materials.
· Learners must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Programme Outline:
· The programme takes approx. 12-18 months to complete.
· Knowledge modules (classroom based) will take place at the Huddersfield Textile Centre of Excellence.
· You will have regular assessments with the college tutor / assessor.
· You will also be supported by an on-site mentor.
· During the programme you will be required to put together a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence.
· There is a requirement to have, or work towards appropriate levels of English and Maths.
· At the end of the programme, you will complete an End Point Assessment: An exam (Knowledge Test) and a Practical Skills Assessment and Discussion (PSAD).
