You will be part of The Borders and Trade Delivery Group who are responsible for the end to end service management and development of over 100 separate services from the generation of Trade Statistics, to the administration of Customs and Excise duties.
You will provide test support of live services, updates, improvements, and development of both new and existing systems, across multiple platforms and locations.
You will undertake functional and non-functional testing activities to meet Project requirements and support Test Team members.
You will assist in developing Automated Testing and support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery across a variety of platforms.
The successful candidate will be required to attend their preferred HMRC office location a minimum of two days per week, in line with our hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake and execute appropriate test design and perform exploratory testing
- Collaborate with delivery teams and determine the testability of functional and non-functional requirements
- Take a business and operational view when analysing the system under test
Essential Criteria
You will already have proven experience of:
- Software Testing across the Software Development Lifecycle
- A range of Test tools e.g. Zephyr, JIRA, JMeter, Cucumber/Gherkin
- Automation testing and test automation tools e.g. SOAP UI/ReadyAPI, Selenium, Postman. If you do not possess hands-on experience, then as a minimum you must demonstrate you have the technical ability to acquire the hands-on skills required
- A validated technical background (skills, experience and/or qualifications e.g. ISEB/ISTQB)
- Working in an Agile team with a clear delivery focus
- Candidates must hold or be able to acquire SC level clearance. The minimum requirement for this is residency in the UK for 5 years preceding the date of application
Desirable Criteria
It would be desirable for applicants to be able to demonstrate experience of:
- Multiple platforms e.g. Client/Server / Web / Unix / VME etc.
- Working within Agile/Scrum teams
- Behavioural Driven Development (in detail)
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Deployment and relevant tools e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins
- Using version control systems such as Subversion or Git
- Release and Configuration Management processes
- Working knowledge and use of SQL queries
