Our main offices in North America are in Orlando, FL, and Macon, GA, with an extensive network of over 60 employees stationed across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, New York, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Our engineers are licensed in over 25+ states throughout the US, enabling us to offer our expertise nationwide. With bench strength of over 500 T&D engineers across our various offices, we can effectively support our local teams and deliver high-quality services to our clients at highly competitive rates.
Project Experience
We have performed Substation, P&C, Civil/ Structural, Transmission lines, and Relay Settings work for large and small clients throughout the US, from large IOUs, Developers, industrial clients to smaller Electric Co-Ops and Municipalities. Our engineers have done extensive work at every voltage level from 500kV down to 4kV. Responsibilities
- Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans
- Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules
- Designing, configuring, consulting, testing and commissioning of Automation/SCADA, control and communication systems for transmission and distribution power substations, generation plants and industrial facilities.
- Develop test plans for execution during FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) of Substation Automation Systems and SCADA applications.
- Prepare equipment and components specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing.
- Coordinate design activities with other areas (Electrical studies, Civil/Structural, Electromechanical, Transmission Lines, etc.)
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Provide short-term field support during construction (Device configuration, site testing, troubleshooting)
- Guarantee technical compliance and uniformity in the projects, ensuring the application of technical standards and constructability in order to present final deliverables in line with HMV’s quality procedures and the client’s.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, electrical engineer, software engineer or mechanic engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 3 to 5 -year experience in designing, testing and commissioning of Automation and SCADA systems for HV/ MV/LV power substations, generation, and industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of communication protocols like IEC-61850 (MMS, GOOSE and Sample Values), DNP V3, Modbus (TCP and Serial), IEC-60870-5-101/104, for SAS/Substation Controller/RTU applications
- Use of IEC 61131 language-based controllers to develop automation logic and SCADA solutions.
- Familiarity with Ethernet and Serial networking for device configurations (Switches, Routers, Media converters)
- A solid understanding of industry standards and regulations related to substation design, grounding, and safety clearance requirements such as IEEE, NEC, and ANSI.
- Proficiency in software and substation design tools, such as ZENON Energy Edition, SEL’s Accelerator RTAC for substation controller/SCADA solutions, Siemens TIA Portal suite for PLC programming and HMI development, ZENON Energy Edition- Software platform to develop the automation and control system for power generation, transmission and distribution systems, GE’s Simplicity, EATON’s SMP Gateway and Visual T&D, Subnet SSNET substation controller software.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, are essential
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to tackle complex design challenges and ensure optimal substation performance.
- Ability to work seamlessly with and provide guidance to the P&C Design Team in their development of the above-listed schematics.
- Ability to provide technical support for field personnel, remote entities, and equipment vendors who are responsible for working and communicating with the substation SCADA network.
- Up-to-date with the latest advancements and emerging trends in substation design.
- Native or fluent in English.
