Job description
Technology Support Engineer
About Us
The council has come a long way over the past few years. We are already winning awards, but our ambition is much greater than being good. We want to become a recognised leader in excellent public service and help improve more lives at a faster rate than ever before. We will achieve that by bringing together our residents, partners and other stakeholders to solve problems and create more opportunities.
Our IT Service returned to be managed in-house in April 2021 and with services including Architecture, InfoSec and Infrastructure Support, we continue to evolve the service to enable better public services at lower cost through technology. We are proactively moving services to the Microsoft cloud as our legacy on-premise infrastructure has been decommissioned. This provides us with the tools to support a flexible hybrid working environment for all Council colleagues.
We would like you to join us on this exciting journey. Bring your skills and expertise to Tower Hamlets to drive our transformation and make a real difference to people's lives in one of the most exciting areas of London.
About the Role
Working as part of the Technology Support Team, you will be responsible for dealing with day-to-day incidents, service request tasks, managing the laptop fleet, technology queries, assisting council colleagues and solving a broad spectrum of IT support tickets, both remotely and in person.
About You
You will have experience of working in IT support for a medium/large organisation, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to resolve user issues in a friendly and efficient manner. You will have a good knowledge of supporting Windows 10, Laptops, VPNs, Office 365 within an Azure environment and Endpoint Manager.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough
