IT Support Technician (Chelmsford/Hybrid)

The Role
As a rapidly growing company, we have identified the need to grow our internal IT support function by creating a new IT Support Technician role dedicated to supporting the IT needs of the Chelmsford factory/office.
You will be working within the IT Service Team responsible for taking ownership of IT support tasks and looking after physical IT asset infrastructure.
Your role is a mixture of hands-on support and change management. This is a multi-faceted operational role involving supporting onboarding by provisioning software and hardware for new starters, IT asset management, information security management and application of cyber security monitoring, 3rd party application management and support as well as network support.
You will be working closely with both the manufacturing site and the office based business teams as well as teams working remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site desktop and laptop support, becoming the first point of contact for all IT issues to internal users. This includes the provisioning of hardware for new joiners as part of the onboarding process.
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests and incidents received through the IT Service Desk System (Jira Service Management). Escalate requests to the appropriate party, including liaising with our 3rd party IT service provider.
- Ensure all processes are followed in order to comply with our Information Security Policy and our on-going compliance with our Cyber Security accreditations.
- Manage IT assets using the IT asset management system. Ensure that all assets are properly tracked, maintained, kept up to date and secured.
- Build and maintain a knowledge base to ensure a consistent level of service.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a Technical Support capacity.
- You are familiar with installing and configuring operating systems, namely Windows OS (Mac and Linux experience is an advantage).
- You have a good understanding of networking and can make sense of network monitoring and diagnose, solve or describe issues accurately to service providers.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely completion of tasks. The ability to prioritise, be attentive to detail, while providing exceptional customer service.
- You are approachable and possess excellent communication skills, booth verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team effectively.
- You are proactive in tackling and taking ownership of issues and bring visibility to them.
