Our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customer’s operations and supply chains.
Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Metallurgical Technician who is looking to build a successful career within a global leading forward-thinking business. This position would suit someone who has recently qualified and is looking to start and build a career within the metallurgy industry. You will provide technical consultancy in a wide range of disciplines including welding engineering and fabrication, casting of metals/foundry practice, corrosion mechanisms, material selection and mechanical engineering for the Rail, Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear and Power Generation industries.
The Role:
- Technical responsibility for ensuring conformance of work to specifications, manuals, procedures and instructions.
- Perform failure investigations, metallurgical assessments, and advise on material and process related issues.
- Maintain an awareness of national and international standards associated with the fields of work covered
- To review and establish prices for technical work packages.
- Provide technical input to all metallurgical and mechanical testing functions as necessary to ensure uninterrupted throughput of jobs and compliance with applicable standards
- Support BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 audits, and carry out internal quality audits
- Preparation and implementation of uncertainty budgets in all areas to satisfy BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements
- Preparation, approval and updating of technical procedures Active engagement with external clients to provide a high level of service
Requirements:
- Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in material, metallurgical or engineering discipline advantageous
- Good communication skills, able to work independently and in a team Knowledge of nickel alloys, titanium, and steels. Experience of mechanical testing (tensile testing) beneficial
