Technician Supervisor - Driveline
Electrification

UTAC provides vehicle test, validation and engineering services to customers in the automotive, transport, tyre, petrochemical, defence and security industries. It is independent and impartial in everything it does.

Shift Pattern: No shift work, some flexibility in hours may be required at times.
Location: Leyland, Lancashire
A unique opportunity to take on the key role of Supervisor in a class leading testing environment, focussed on (electrified and conventional) Driveline testing. The role includes ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to, managing the technician team, providing oversight on test rig setups, equipment maintenance and calibration, and promoting good communication lines between the Technicians and Engineers.
The role is based on a 37hr week on a day shift, with the possibility of overtime.
Reporting into the Propulsion Manager.
Role Responsibilities
· Provide oversight on the preparation and installation of test samples (conventional transmissions, eMotors and electric-drive-units) onto driveline test rigs.
· Motivate and mentor team members to achieve and exceed departmental goals
· Promote a can-do attitude and a positive working environment
· Manage shift rotas and resource planning
· Order and maintain consumable stocks
· Approve working hours (timesheets) and holiday requests
· Co-ordinate between shifts to ensure a seamless operation of the test facility
· Continuously strive to improve systems of work, rig setups and job delivery
Qualifications
· Time served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
· HND in Engineering (desirable)
· Large breadth of work experience in an automotive engineering laboratory, automotive repair, heavy truck repair, electrical or electronics (desirable)
Experience and Skills
· An interest / passion in Driveline test and development, including HV electric machines
· Previous relevant industry work experience e.g. driveline testing (desirable)
· Mechanical driveline and electric vehicle drive systems knowledge (desirable)
· Test bed control system setup skills (desirable)
· Organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
· Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
· Methodical and logical approach to all aspects of work
· Instrumentation and data acquisition experience (preferred)
· Experience with fault finding techniques (desirable)
· High Voltage awareness (training will be provided as required)
· Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
