Your new role
National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Structures Technician to join our team in the Yorkshire North East region. The Structures Technician will support in the identification of asset specific needs and early solutions, while assuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards; the role may be required to work unsociable hours.
You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment
What you’ll be leading on
- To ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
- To support the identification and evaluation of asset specific needs in order to develop future maintenance, renewals and improvement solutions.
- To support the development of asset renewals and improvement plans, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
- To provide support in the identification and management of asset studies and survey works.
- To input into the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management.
- To support the development of technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractor for improvement and renewals work.
- To support the capture and maintenance of roads asset data and condition information in the relevant database(s), in line with agreed standards and timescales.
- To assist Project Managers and Engineers on construction site visits, as required.
- Supports the development of asset needs requirements.
- Recommends improvements in the development of asset management processes and approaches.
To be successful
- HND/C or other relevant qualification with relevant experience, or working towards
- Knowledge of asset condition assessment and degradation modelling
- Knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highways network
- Understanding of the Value Management process or cost benefit analysis of schemes
- Experience in highway infrastructure design
- Experience in AutoCAD desirable
- Experience in highway construction and delivery methods
