Summary
Reporting to the RBS Training Supervisor, the RBS Technical Writer, will assist with standardization, alignment and quality control of documents and other training materials. Training materials should be written in a way that explains technical information in simple language that can be easily understood by end users. The Technical Writer will develop and update training materials to support learning that will support adoption of change and drive improved performance.
We are looking for someone to work with product managers, and SMEs to produce and maintain outstanding documentation, including User manuals and other training materials. The ideal candidate will be an individual who takes initiative and thrives in fast paced multifaceted environments.
Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
Gather information from SMEs and develop, prioritize, and write user manuals and quick reference guides
Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation
Build user guides and other documentation to provide end users with an understanding of the key functionality of a platform.
Edit documentation for transparency and understanding without changing key information.
Write user-focused release notes
Learn product concepts and communicate the information to a variety of audiences.
Gather user feedback on documentation to improve usability.
Ensure consistency and quality in training documentation across product suite.
Measure metrics on the usage of training materials as well as direct customer feedback to prioritize future training investments.
Ensure all written materials align with Teck’s standards and branding
Support improvement projects aimed at knowledge dissemination
Qualifications
Two or more years of experience as a technical writer or a degree in journalism, communications or creative writing.
Consistent track record to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
Experience working with content management systems and maintaining document libraries in Sharepoint
Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Experience working with eLearning tools and a Learning Management system
Experience with Office D365
Previous experience and accountability with an end-to-end documentation creation process.
A positive demeanor, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges
