SUT provides event technology services around the globe for FT500 clients such as Google, Salesforce, R&A, and Cisco. Duties and Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities and duties of a prospective applicant are to maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor the company’s onsite and offsite networks. This includes network hardware, software, and communication links, as well as providing support to end users. These tasks generally consist of ITIL-v4 defined tasks and include, but are not limited to, the following list:
- Provide first-level technical support, including diagnosing and resolving user problems pertaining to the company’s network
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor the company’s network infrastructure, such as firewalls, switches, hubs, and other network hardware
- Configure, install, and maintain network hardware and software according to the company’s standards
- Assist with the setup, testing and troubleshooting of network-related hardware and software
- Install and configure wireless access points and configure related settings according to company standards
- Monitor and analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements
- Assist with the development and implementation of network security policies and procedures.
- Assist with the development and implementation of backup and recovery plans
- Assist with the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures
- Provide training and technical guidance to end users
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Generate reports and provide updates on network performance and utilization
- Monitor and maintain system documentation
- Remain informed of current industry trends and developments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
General Skills
No degree necessary. 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in Network Administration with responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage through the use of reasoning and logic to accurately determine the root cause of problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative, and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials (e.g., technical documentation, process and procedures).
The physical ability to lift 10 kg and maintain an active role walking an exhibition floor for extended periods of time over the course of a live event’s lifecycle.
A valid passport and the physical ability to travel to remote locations, domestic and foreign, for extended periods of time, 1 - 4 weeks in duration, 50-60% of the work year.
Networking
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of network administration as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+).
Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and implement a simple networking stack consisting of core, aggregation, and access layers as demonstrated by previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot network related issues and an understanding of basic helpdesk or tier 1 support principles as demonstrated by previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Demonstrated ability to professionally install structured cabling, terminate copper ethernet hardlines with RJ45 connectors, and install punchdown patch panels.
Systems Administration
Demonstrated proficiency in the area of Linux Systems Administration and Linux CLI as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications, previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Demonstrated proficiency in the area of Virtualization as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications, previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
A general understanding of Reporting and Incident Management as demonstrated by previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Desired Qualifications
Events and Live Sporting Market
A general understanding of the Events industry, the lifecycle of events from planning to production, and the support required for the duration of the project.
Networking
Demonstrated proficiency in the area of Firewalls and Routing deployment as demonstrated by technical interview.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of Wireless network deployment as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications (preferred: Cisco CCNA Wireless), previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Systems Administration
Demonstrated proficiency in the area of Active Directory management as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications, previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Demonstrated proficiency in the area of containerized environments, specifically Docker, as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications, previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of Information Security and Cybersecurity as demonstrated by the attainment of relevant technical certifications, previous work experience, technical portfolio, or technical interview.
Programming
Demonstrated experience working with any programming language - Python preferable.
Salary/Benefits
Salary range of £22,000-25,000 a year
Enrollment in Pension scheme with Company contributing an additional 3% of wages to the UK Pension Fund
Paid Time off including vacation time accrued to total 224 hours/28 business days per year
