Our client is a leading , world wide Fortune 500 Telecom vendor that works with Canada's top Carriers such as BELL/TELUS/Rogers and they are looking to add a Technical Writer to be part of an internal development team that works on end client application projects.

Summary

Technical Writer performs as an integral part of the documentation team responsible for developing, writing, and editing internal and external Customer Product Information (CPI). The writer gathers, analyzes, and composes technical information assigned by senior technical writers during the life cycle of the project(s). Technical Writer B provides mentorship for junior technical writers.

Impact

Technical Writer contributes key sections of documentation projects that comprise the final deliverable(s) and assists with the production of technical documents under the supervision of senior technical writers.

Main Responsibilities

• Works independently and in collaboration with other technical writers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to write documentation.

• Develops and integrates graphics with deliverable documents.

Position Requirements

• 5+ years of technical writing experience

• 2+ years working within software application space

• Advanced knowledge of industry standard technical writing tools (Desktop Publishing tools, Acrobat, and so on).

• Good knowledge of client-server technology.

• Good knowledge of Databases, Database Management Systems (DBMS), and Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).

• Proven experience documenting user interfaces such as Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), Web Interfaces, and Command Line Interfaces (CLIs).

• Good knowledge of user interface usability testing and Quality Assurance.

• Some knowledge of UNIX.

• Good understanding of file management and version control systems.

• Good knowledge of Markup languages (HTML, XML, and so on).

• Some knowledge of programming concepts.

• Advanced knowledge of style guide principles.

• Knowledge of Arbortext (Epic Editor) is an asset.

• Knowledge of telecommunication industry is an asset.
